adminIl Gran Premio della Turchia, diciottesimo round stagionale, ha dato inizio al ciclo finale di tre gare in tre settimane che chiuderanno l’edizione 2025 del Campionato Mondiale Motocross FIM. La gara è stata ospitata dal circuito di Afyon situato nella regione dell’Antalia occidentale a circa quattrocento chilometri dalla capitale Istanbul.
Ben Watson (Beta RX450) ha faticato a trovare il feeling con il tracciato turco nelle prove cronometrate dove ha segnato il ventesimo tempo. Il pilota ha poi ottenuto il diciannovesimo posto in qualifica. Piazzamento che ha confermato anche nella prima manche. Più soddisfacente la seconda manche in cui Watson è riuscito a esprimere meglio il suo potenziale terminando tredicesimo. Diciassettesimo assoluto, Ben è dodicesimo nella classifica di campionato.
Ventunesimo al termine delle prove cronometrate, Tom Koch (Beta RX450) ha finito al ventesimo posto la qualifica. Discreta rimonta in gara uno per Koch che ha chiuso al sedicesimo posto dopo essere scattato intorno alla ventesima posizione. Buona prestazione anche nella frazione conclusiva terminata ancora in zona punti, in diciottesima posizione. Tom ha concluso diciottesimo assoluto mentre in campionato occupa il ventiduesimo posto.
Tom Koch: “Non avevo mai corso in Turchia e ho apprezzato il layout del tracciato. Nelle prove ho cercato di fare un buon tempo ma la pista era troppo veloce e non sono riuscito a fare un giro perfetto. In qualifica scattavo da posizione piuttosto defilata e non ho centrato una buona partenza. Ho provato a rimontare ma in questo circuito è davvero difficile superare. Domenica la situazione non è cambiata e la pista è diventata ancora più impegnativa. Abbiamo apportato alcune modifiche alla moto e nel warm up mi sono sentito decisamente meglio in sella. La partenza in gara uno è stata positiva. Ho lottato per tutta la durata della manche e ho tagliato il traguardo al sedicesimo posto. Nella seconda sono partito male. Nei primi giri ho recuperato qualche posizione ma ho commesso anche qualche errore che mi ha fatto scivolare indietro. Nel finale, con la pista sempre più scavata, non ho più guidato sciolto e ho finito diciottesimo, anche se in alcuni tratti di pista guidavo davvero bene. Proverò a portare con me queste buone sensazioni per fare meglio nei round finali.”
Il prossimo fine settimana MRT Racing Team Beta Factory sarà impegnato a Shanghai nel Gran Premio della Cina, diciannovesimo e penultimo round stagionale del Campionato Mondiale Motocross FIM 2025.
Ben Watson: “La trasferta in Turchia è stata molto difficile. Per tutto il fine settimana non sono riuscito a trovare un buon feeling con la pista e, di conseguenza, non sono mai stato in grado di spingere al limite per essere più competitivo. Qualche miglioramento si è visto nella seconda manche che ho chiuso al tredicesimo posto. Nel complesso però non posso essere soddisfatto. Lasciamoci alle spalle questo weekend da incubo e proviamo a portare a casa qualche risultato migliore nella prossima gara in Cina.”

The Turkish Grand Prix, the 18th round of the season, kicked off the final cycle of three races in three weeks that will conclude the 2025 FIM Motocross World Championship. The event was hosted at the Afyon circuit, located in the western Antalya region, about four hundred kilometers from the capital, Istanbul.
Ben Watson (Beta RX450) struggled to find the right feeling with the Turkish track during timed practice, where he set the 20th fastest time. The rider then secured the 19th position in qualifying, also confirmed in the first round. The second round was more satisfying, as Watson managed to better express his potential, finishing 13th. 17th overall, Ben now sits 12th in the championship standings.
Ben Watson: “The trip to Turkey was very tough. All weekend I couldn’t find a good feeling with the track and, as a result, I was never able to push to the limit to be more competitive. There were some improvements in the second manche, which I finished in 13th position. Overall, I can’t be satisfied. Let’s put this nightmare weekend behind us and try to bring home some better results at the next race in China.”
Twenty-first at the end of timed practice, Tom Koch (Beta RX450) finished 20th in qualifying. He made a decent comeback in the first round, crossing the line in 16th after starting around 20th position. Another solid performance in the final manche saw him finish in the points again, in 18th position. Tom ended 18th overall and currently holds 22nd in the championship.
Tom Koch: “I had never raced in Turkey before, and I liked the track layout. In practice, I tried to set a good time, but the track was too fast, and I couldn’t put together a perfect lap. In qualifying, I started from a pretty far-out position and didn’t get a good start. I tried to fight back, but on this track, it’s really hard to overtake. On Sunday, things didn’t change, and the track became even more demanding. We made some changes to the bike, and in the warm-up, I felt much better. The start in round one was good. I fought hard throughout the race and finished 16th. In the second manche, I had a bad start. I made up a few positions in the early laps but also made some mistakes that pushed me back. Toward the end, with the track getting more and more rutted, I couldn’t ride as smoothly as I wanted and I finished 18th, even though in some sections I was riding really well. I’ll try to carry these good feelings into the final rounds.”
Next weekend, the MRT Racing Team Beta Factory will head to Shanghai for the Chinese Grand Prix, the 19th and penultimate round of the 2025 FIM Motocross World Championship.
