adminL’MRT Racing Team Beta Factory ritorna al Cozar Motor Ranch in occasione del Gran Premio di Castilla-La Mancha, secondo round del Campionato Mondiale Motocross FIM 2025. Il tracciato spagnolo aveva ospitato il GP conclusivo della stagione 2024.
Il maltempo che ha imperversato sulla zona nei giorni precedenti e nel fine settimana ha reso la pista particolarmente insidiosa e impegnativa.
Diciannovesimo nelle prove cronometrate, Ben Watson (Beta RX450) in qualifica non ha avuto una partenza fortunata ma ha rimontato fino alla diciannovesima posizione. Nella prima manche il pilota inglese ha faticato in partenza ma ancora una volta ha recuperato fino a chiudere al quindicesimo posto. Nella seconda, con il tracciato che peggiorava ad ogni giro per la pioggia, Watson si è migliorato terminando tredicesimo. Malgrado le difficoltà Ben è riuscito a chiudere tredicesimo nell’assoluta di giornata mentre in campionato è salito in sedicesima posizione.
Tom Koch ha iniziato il fine settimana di Cozar segnando il ventiduesimo tempo nelle cronometrate. Il pilota tedesco in qualifica ha faticato a trovare il feeling con la pista e ha chiuso al ventitreesimo posto. Le pessime condizioni del tracciato non l’hanno aiutato. Nella prima manche è caduto a causa di un contatto con un avversario, ripartito ultimo non è andato oltre la ventitreesima posizione al traguardo. Nella seconda è partito nella top ten, ma dopo qualche giro, con la pioggia che ha iniziato a farsi sempre più incessante, è stato costretto a togliersi gli occhiali. Nonostante la limitata visibilità, Tom ha chiuso in sedicesima posizione guadagnando i punti che gli hanno permesso di finire ventesimo nell’assoluta di giornata.
Ben Watson: “È stato un fine settimana veramente difficile, il meteo è stato terribile in entrambe le giornate. Sabato avevo un buon feeling nonostante mi si siano induriti gli avambracci. Domenica, nonostante la forte pioggia, ho cercato di non commettere errori. Nella seconda parte delle gare mi sentivo meglio in sella. In fondo siamo solo al secondo GP della stagione e, malgrado le difficoltà, penso di aver fatto un altro passo nella giusta direzione.“
Tom Koch: “Weekend difficile. Il tracciato è sempre stato molto pesante, soprattutto domenica. Al via di gara uno sono scattato bene ma alla prima curva sono caduto, purtroppo ho rimontato solo fino alla ventitreesima posizione. In gara due mi sono toccato con un avversario appena usciti dal cancello. Alla prima curva mi sono infilato in una buona traiettoria e mi sono ritrovato in nona posizione. Quando ha ripreso a piovere mi è entrata dell’acqua negli occhiali e dopo qualche giro sono stato costretto a toglierli. Alla fine ho chiuso in sedicesima posizione. Spero di poter fare meglio il prossimo fine settimana in Francia.”
Il prossimo fine settimana MRT Racing Team Beta Factory scenderà in pista a Saint Jean d’Angely per il Gran Premio di Francia, terzo appuntamento del Campionato Mondiale Motocross FIM 2025.

The MRT Racing Team Beta Factory is back at the Cozar Motor Ranch for the Grand Prix of Castilla-La Mancha, the second round of the FIM Motocross World Championship 2025, the Spanish track had hosted the final GP of the 2024 season.
The adverse weather conditions of the days before the race and over the weekend made the track particularly treacherous and challenging.
Nineteenth in timed practice, Ben Watson (Beta RX450) did not have a good start in qualifying but managed to recover to nineteenth position. In the first heat the British rider struggled at the start but once again recovered to end in fifteenth place. In the second heat, with the track getting worse with every lap due to rain, Watson improved to thirteenth. Despite the difficulties Ben managed to finish thirteenth overall on the day while in the Championship he moved up to sixteenth.
Tom Koch started the weekend at Cozar by setting the twenty-second fastest time in the time trials. The German rider struggled to find the feeling for the track in qualifying and finished twenty-third. The poor track conditions did not help him. In the first heat he crashed due to a contact with another rider, and starting from last position he did not finish more than twenty-third. In the second heat he started in the top ten, but after a few laps, as the rain started to become more and more incessant, he was forced to take off his glasses. Despite the limited visibility, Tom finished in sixteenth position, earning the points that allowed him to finish twentieth overall for the day.
Ben Watson: ‘It was a really difficult weekend, the weather was terrible on both days. On Saturday I had a good feeling despite my forearms hardening up. On Sunday, I tried not to make any mistakes despite the heavy rain. In the second half of the races I felt better in the bike. After all, this is only the second GP of the season and, despite the difficulties, I think I took another step in the right direction.’
Tom Koch: ‘Difficult weekend. The track was always very heavy, especially on Sunday. At the start of race one I got off to a good start but at the first corner I crashed, unfortunately I only recovered to twenty-third position. In race two I touched with an opponent right out of the gate. At the first corner I got into a good line and found myself in ninth position. When it started raining again, water got into my goggles and after a few laps I was forced to take them off. In the end I finished in sixteenth position. I hope I can do better next weekend in France.’
Next weekend MRT Racing Team Beta Factory will take to the track at Saint Jean d’Angely for the Grand Prix of France, the third round of the FIM 2025 Motocross World Championship.
