adminIl Gran Premio delle Fiandre, quindicesimo round del Campionato Mondiale Motocross FIM 2025, si è disputato sul tracciato di Lommel, in Belgio. Con il suo fondo sabbioso, il circuito fiammingo è considerato uno dei più difficili e impegnativi di tutta la stagione.
Diciottesimo al termine delle prove cronometrate, Ben Watson (Beta RX450) ha disputato una buona qualifica: scattato sedicesimo, il pilota inglese è riuscito a recuperare diverse posizioni terminando dodicesimo. Watson nella prima manche ha avuto un ottimo spunto in partenza ma nei primi giri ha perso alcune posizioni. Il buon passo però gli ha permesso di recuperare fino a chiudere undicesimo. Ben ha centrato un’ottima rimonta anche nella seconda manche dove ha terminato in decima posizione. Questi piazzamenti hanno permesso a Watson di finire decimo nell’assoluta di giornata e di salire all’undicesimo posto nella classifica di campionato.
Ben Watson: “Weekend duro ma sono contento dei risultati che ho ottenuto. Sabato la giornata è andata bene. All’inizio ho faticato a trovare il feeling ma ad ogni entrata in pista mi sentivo meglio. Nella prima manche sono partito bene ma ho avuto qualche problema nei primi giri. In seguito, ho guidato bene e ho concluso undicesimo. In gara due sono partito ancora bene ma purtroppo sono caduto al terzo giro e ho perso molte posizioni. Ho spinto forte e ho terminato la gara in decimo posizione. Fisicamente stavo bene, ma negli ultimi giri le bandiere gialle mi hanno rallentato parecchio. Il feeling prima della prossima tappa in Svezia è buono.”
Qualche difficoltà di adattamento all’impegnativo circuito belga per Tom Koch (Beta RX450) che sabato ha chiuso le prove cronometrate e le manche di qualifica in ventiquattresima posizione. Poca fortuna per il pilota tedesco al via di gara uno in cui si è ritrovato tra gli ultimi. Con una buona rimonta è stato in grado di chiudere in zona punti, diciannovesimo. Koch ha confermato il feeling ritrovato terminando sedicesimo nella seconda manche. I sette punti iridati gli hanno permesso di chiudere in diciassettesima posizione nell’assoluta di giornata.
Tom Koch: “La pista di Lommel è davvero impegnativa. Sabato non ero a posto e ho faticato a trovare il setup per la moto. Non è andata bene, ma sono rimasto concentrato per le gare di domenica; di sicuro non sono contento del ventiquattresimo posto in qualifica. Domenica nel warm-up abbiamo apportato alcune modifiche alle sospensioni e mi trovavo molto meglio. In gara uno ho perso tempo nel traffico delle prime curve. Ero quasi ultimo e non ho trovato un buon ritmo nei primi giri. Alla fine sono riuscito ad ottenere la diciannovesima posizione. In gara due è andata molto meglio. Non sono ancora soddisfatto della mia guida ma stiamo andando nella giusta direzione. Continuiamo a lavorare e proviamo a migliorare in Svezia.”
Archiviate le due prove mondiali consecutive di Repubblica Ceca e Belgio, MRT Racing Team Beta Factory tornerà in pista tra due settimane col Gran Premio di Svezia nel weekend del 16-17 agosto 2025, sul circuito di Uddevalla.

Grand Prix of Flanders, the fifteenth round of the 2025 FIM Motocross World Championship, took place on the Lommel circuit in Belgium. With its sandy surface, the Flemish track is considered one of the most difficult of the season.
Eighteenth at the end of the time practice sessions, Ben Watson (Beta RX450) put in a solid performance in the qualifying race: starting sixteenth, Ben managed to recover several positions to finish twelfth. Watson got off to an excellent start in the first round but lost a few positions in the early laps. However, his good pace allowed him to fight back and finish eleventh. Ben also made a strong comeback in the second round, where he crossed the finish line in tenth position. These results saw Watson securing the tenth position overall on the day and the eleventh in the championship standings.
Ben Watson: “It was a tough weekend, but I’m pleased with the results I achieved. Saturday went well. At first I struggled to find the right feeling, but with each session I felt better and better. In the first heat I got a good start but had some issues in the early laps. Afterwards I rode well and finished eleventh. In race two I got another good start but unfortunately I crashed on the third lap and lost a lot of ground. I pushed hard and managed to finish tenth. Physically I felt good, but in the final laps the yellow flags slowed me down quite a bit. The feeling ahead of the next round in Sweden is positive.”
Tom Koch (Beta RX450) faced some difficulties adapting to the challenging Belgian circuit, ending Saturday’s time sessions and qualifying race in twenty-fourth position. The German rider had little luck at the start of race one, finding himself near the back of the course. With a solid comeback, he was able to finish inside the point’s section in nineteenth position. Koch confirmed his improved feeling by setting the sixteenth position in the second heat. The seven championship points he scored earned him seventeenth overall on the day.
Tom Koch: “The Lommel track is really demanding. On Saturday I wasn’t feeling right and struggled to find the right bike setup. It didn’t go well, but I stayed focused for Sunday’s races. Of course I’m not happy with twenty-fourth in qualifying. On Sunday morning we made some suspension changes during warm-up and I felt a lot better. In race one I lost time in the pack in the early corners. I was almost last and couldn’t find a good rhythm in the opening laps. In the end, I managed to finish nineteenth. Race two went much better. I’m still not satisfied with my riding, but we’re heading in the right direction. We’ll keep working and aim to improve in Sweden.”
After competing in two consecutive rounds of the World Championship in the Czech Republic and Belgium, the MRT Racing Team Beta Factory will be back in action for the Swedish Grand Prix in two weeks’ time, which will take place on the weekend of 16-17 August 2025 at the Uddevalla circuit.
