adminNel fine settimana, l’MRT Racing Team Beta Factory ha preso parte al Gran Premio del Portogallo, settimo round del Campionato Mondiale Motocross FIM 2025. Il forte maltempo che ha colpito la zona ha reso il circuito lusitano molto impegnativo, mettendo a dura prova piloti e moto.
Ben Watson (Beta RX450) ha segnato il ventunesimo tempo nelle prove cronometrate. Il pilota ha corso una buona prima manche, chiusa quattordicesimo, ed ancora migliore è stata la partenza nella seconda, dove ha rimontato fino alla decima posizione nei primi giri. Peccato per un problema alla ruota posteriore che lo ha visto costretto a fermarsi, e che non gli ha permesso di terminare oltre la diciottesima posizione. Watson ha chiuso diciassettesimo nell’assoluta di giornata.
Ventesimo nelle cronometrate, Tom Koch (Beta RX450) ha chiuso ventiduesimo in qualifica. In gara uno Tom è stato costretto a ritirarsi, mentre si è ben difeso nella seconda manche, che ha concluso in quindicesima posizione, e che gli ha permesso di finire diciassettesimo nella classifica di giornata.
Ben Watson: “In Portogallo ho vissuto un fine settimana davvero difficile. In qualifica mi sono dovuto fermare un paio di volte in pitlane. Nella prima manche ho fatto attenzione principalmente a non commettere errori, mentre nella seconda ho recuperato fino al decimo posto nei primi due giri. Guidavo bene e il feeling con la pista era buono. Purtroppo, ho rotto la ruota posteriore e sono stato costretto a fermarmi per sostituirla, ho perso un giro ma una volta tornato in pista ho spinto ancora, e ho raccolto un altro paio di punti.”
Tom Koch: “Un altro fine settimana pieno di fango. Durante le prove la pista era perfetta, ma ero un po’ rigido e non ho trovato un buon feeling. Prima della qualifica ha iniziato a piovere e le condizioni del tracciato erano completamente differenti. Ho avuto qualche problema con gli occhiali e non ho fatto una buona prestazione. Ero fiducioso di far meglio domenica, ma la pista era ulteriormente peggiorata a causa della pioggia. In Gara uno sono stato costretto al ritiro, mentre Gara due è iniziata meglio; ci ho messo qualche giro a trovare il ritmo, e ho chiuso quindicesimo. Voglio ringraziare i nostri meccanici che hanno dovuto lavorare molto in questo weekend.”
Nessuna sosta per MRT Racing Team Beta Factory che il prossimo fine settimana scenderà in pista a Lugo nel Gran Premio di Spagna, ottavo round del Campionato Mondiale Motocross FIM 2025.

Over the weekend, the MRT Racing Team Beta Factory took part in the Grand Prix of Portugal, round 7 of the FIM Motocross World Championship 2025. The heavy weather that hit the area made the Lusitanian circuit very challenging, testing both riders and bikes.
Ben Watson (Beta RX450) set the 21st fastest time in time trials. The rider ran a good first heat, finishing fourteenth, and even better was his start in the second one, where he climbed up to tenth position in the first laps. Too bad for a problem with the rear wheel that saw him forced to stop, and that did not allow him to finish beyond eighteenth position. Watson finished seventeenth Overall for the day.
Twentieth in the time trials, Tom Koch (Beta RX450) finished twenty-second in qualifying. In race one Tom was forced to withdraw, while he performed well in the second heat, which he finished in fifteenth position, allowing him to rank seventeenth in the Day’s Standings.
Ben Watson:‘I had a tough weekend in Portugal. In qualifying I was forced to stop a couple of times in the pit lane. In the first heat I was mainly careful not to make mistakes, while in the second heat I recovered up to tenth place in the first two laps. I was riding well and the feeling with the track was good. Unfortunately, I broke the rear wheel and had to stop to replace it, lost a lap, but once I was back on track I kept pushing and picked up another couple of points.’
Tom Koch: ‘Another weekend of muddy weather. During practice the track was perfect, but I was a bit stiff and didn’t get a good feeling. Before qualifying it started raining and the track conditions were completely different. I had some problems with my glasses and did not perform well. I was confident of doing better on Sunday, but the track was even worse because of the rain. In Race one I was forced to retire, while Race two started better; it took me a few laps to find my rhythm, and I finished fifteenth. I would like to thank our mechanics who had to work very hard this weekend.’
No break for MRT Racing Team Beta Factory, which will take to the track next weekend at Lugo in the Grand Prix of Spain, round 8 of the FIM Motocross World Championship 2025.
