adminIl circuito “Riola Sardo” ha ospitato il quarto round del Campionato Mondiale Motocross FIM 2025, il Gran Premio della Sardegna. Con il suo fondo sabbioso, il tracciato di Riola Sardo è considerato uno dei più difficili e impegnativi di tutta la stagione.
Ben Watson (Beta RX450) ha segnato il quindicesimo tempo nelle prove cronometrate. Ottima performance per il pilota inglese nella qualifica, che ha concluso al decimo posto dopo una bella rimonta. Nella prima manche, Watson è partito benissimo e si è inserito nel gruppo dei migliori. Rimasto in top ten per tutta la durata di manche, ha tagliato il traguardo in ottava posizione. Nella seconda manche ha urtato il cancelletto in partenza e si è ritrovato ultimo. Ben non si è risparmiato e dopo una gran rimonta ha terminato il turno dodicesimo. Nono nell’assoluta di giornata, Watson è salito in quattordicesima posizione nella classifica di campionato.
Prove cronometrate concluse in ventiquattresima posizione per Tom Koch (Beta RX450). A seguito di una lieve indecisione in partenza, il pilota si è ritrovato attardato in qualifica subito dopo il via ed è riuscito a chiudere solamente al ventunesimo posto. Nella prima manche, il pilota tedesco è stato estromesso dalla gara dopo pochi giri a causa di un inconveniente. Nella seconda, malgrado qualche difficoltà a trovare il feeling con il tracciato, Tom ha chiuso in ventesima posizione.
Il prossimo fine settimana MRT Racing Team Beta Factory scenderà in pista a Arco nel Gran Premio del Trentino, quinto round stagionale del Campionato Mondiale Motocross FIM 2025.
Ben Watson: “Il GP di Sardegna è stato un weekend positivo. Sabato mattina ero molto veloce. Ho cercato di trovare subito il feeling con il tracciato senza pensare troppo alla classifica. Le buone sensazioni delle prove le ho trasferite anche in qualifica dove ho chiuso decimo, piazzamento che mi ha dato la possibilità di schierarmi in una buona posizione per le manche titolate. Nella prima sono partito bene e mi sono inserito nel gruppo dei più veloci. Mi sentivo bene e ho terminato ottavo. Nella seconda ho avuto un problema al cancelletto e ho perso parecchio tempo prima di poter partire. Giravo bene e ho rimontato fino al dodicesimo posto. A livello fisico le mie condizioni erano ottime e non vedo l’ora di scendere in pista ad Arco la settimana prossima.”
Tom Koch: “La pista di Riola è davvero impegnativa e sapevo che sarebbe stato uno dei fine settimana più duri della stagione. Nonostante le condizioni del tracciato fossero favorevoli, purtroppo non sono riuscito a fare un buon giro. In qualifica ho avuto un’indecisione in partenza ma ho recuperato fino alla ventunesima posizione. Nella prima manche un problema mi ha costretto al ritiro dopo qualche giro, ma i ragazzi del team hanno risolto la cosa velocemente permettendomi di partire in gara due. Anche in questa occasione non sono scattato benissimo. Nei primi giri ho provato a spingere al massimo ma ho faticato ancora a trovare il ritmo. In sella ero davvero troppo rigido. Adesso dobbiamo concentrarci sul prossimo appuntamento per puntare a fare meglio.”

One of the most challenging rounds of the FIM Motocross World Championship 2025, the Grand Prix of Sardinia, took place at the Riola Sardo track this weekend.
Ben Watson (Beta RX450) set the 15th fastest time in time trials. An excellent performance for the British rider in the qualifying, who finished in 10th position after a good comeback. In the first heat, Watson got off to a great start and was in the top group. He stayed in the top ten throughout the entire heat and crossed the finish line 8th. In the second heat Watson hit the gate at the start and found himself last , however, he did not give up and after a great comeback he finished the heat in 12th position. Watson was 9th Overall for the day and moved up to 14th in the Championship Standings.
Tom Koch (Beta RX450) finished 24th in time trials. Following a slight indecision at the start, the rider found himself behind in qualifying right after the start and was only able to finish in 21st position. In the first heat, the German rider was forced out of the race after only a few laps due to an inconvenience. In the second heat, despite some difficulties in finding a good feeling with the track, Tom finished in 20th position.
The MRT Racing Team Beta Factory will be on track next weekend at Arco in the Grand Prix of Trentino, fifth round of the FIM Motocross World Championship 2025.
Ben Watson: “The Sardinia GP was a positive weekend. On Saturday morning I was very fast. I tried to find the feeling with the track straight away without thinking too much about the results. I carried over the good feelings from the practice sessions into qualifying, where I finished 10th, a placing that gave me the opportunity to line up in a good position for the qualifying heats. In the first heat I made a good start and was in the fastest group. I felt good and finished 8th. In the second heat I had a problem at the gate and lost a lot of time before I could start. I was lapping well and recovered to 12th . On a physical level my condition was very good and I am looking forward to the track in Arco next week.”
Tom Koch: “The Riola track is challenging and I knew it would be one of the toughest weekends of the season. Despite the fact that the track conditions were favourable, I unfortunately could not get a good lap time. In qualifying I had an indecision at the start, but I recovered to 21st position. In the first heat a problem forced me to retire after a few laps, but the team solved it quickly, allowing me to start in race two. Even on this occasion I didn’t get off to a great start. In the first few laps I tried to push hard but I still struggled to find my rhythm. I was really too rigid in the seat. Now we have to focus on the next round and aim to do better.”
