Il weekend è stato nuovamente segnato dalle piogge, nonostante ciò le condizioni della pista sono state nettamente migliori rispetto a quelle della scorsa settimana in Spagna.
Nelle prove cronometrate, Ben Watson (Beta RX450), ha segnato il ventitreesimo tempo. L’inglese in qualifica si è difeso bene, terminando quindicesimo. Nelle manche titolate, Watson, è stato rallentato da due partenze sfortunate; nella prima da venticinquesimo è riuscito a rimontare fino alla quattordicesima posizione, e nella seconda è andato ancora meglio chiudendo al dodicesimo posto. Ben ha finito undicesimo nell’assoluta di giornata, a soli tre punti dalla top ten ed è salito in quindicesima posizione nella classifica di campionato.
Ventiduesimo nelle cronometrate, Tom Koch (Beta RX450), è sceso ventitreesimo in qualifica. Piazzamento che Koch ha confermato anche nella prima manche. Nella seconda, il tedesco è scattato bene ma è stato rallentato nella prima curva da una caduta di gruppo per poi rimontare fino alla diciassettesima posizione.
MRT Racing Team Beta Factory scenderà in pista tra due settimane nel Gran Premio di Sardegna, quarto appuntamento del Campionato Mondiale Motocross FIM 2025, che sarà ospitato dal circuito “Le Dune” di Riola Sardo.
Ben Watson: “Il weekend di gara è iniziato bene. Durante le prove il feeling con la moto e la pista era ottimo anche se non ho girato con buoni tempi. In qualifica sono partito bene. La pista era molto scivolosa ma sono riuscito a chiudere quindicesimo. Un buon piazzamento in vista delle manche titolate ma sfortunatamente domenica ha fatto due brutte partenze. La rimonta è andata abbastanza bene ma non sono felicissimo del mio piazzamento. Nella seconda sono partito indietro e ho rischiato di rimanere coinvolto nella caduta alla prima curva. Scampato il pericolo ho iniziato a recuperare posizioni e ho tagliato il traguardo al dodicesimo posto. Sono contento di come ho guidato ma devo lavorare sulle mie partenze.”
Tom Koch: “Ancora una volta abbiamo dovuto fare i conti con un fine settimana bagnato. In prova mi sentivo bene, anche se nelle cronometrate non ho trovato un buon giro. Non ero lontano da chi mi precedeva ma ero sicuro di poter migliorare. Al secondo giro ho commesso un errore e da quel punto non sono più riuscito a tenere un buon ritmo. Domenica si sono creati dei canali profondi, era molto facile sbagliare. Le mie partenze non sono state buone e in ogni manche sono caduto, la pista era abbastanza scivolosa per la pioggia. Adesso avremmo un fine settimana libero che sfrutteremo al meglio per allenarci sulla sabbia e farci trovare pronti per la prossima gara.”

The French track of Saint Jean d’Angely hosted the European Grand Prix, the third round of the FIM Motocross World Championship 2025. The weekend was marked once again by rain, nevertheless the track conditions were much better than last week in Spain.
In time practice Ben Watson (Beta RX450) set the 23rd fastest time. The British rider defended himself well in qualifying, finishing 15th. In the races, Watson, had two unfortunate starts; in Race1 from the 25th position he was able to climb back up to the 14th, and in Race2 he did even better, finishing 12th. Ben finished eleventh overall on the day, just three points off the top ten, and moved up to the 15th position in the Championship standings.
Tom Koch (Beta RX450) started the weekend in 22nd position in time practice, and 23rd in qualifying. Koch also confirmed this position in the first heat. In the second Heat, the German made a good start but was slowed down in the first corner by a group crash before regaining 17th position.
MRT Racing Team Beta Factory will take to the track in a couple of weeks in the Grand Prix of Sardinia, the fourth round of the FIM Motocross World Championship 2025, which will be hosted by the ‘Le Dune’ circuit of Riola Sardo.
Ben Watson: “The race weekend started well. During practice the feeling with the bike and the track was very good even though I did not set good times. In qualifying I got a good start. The track was very wet, but I managed to finish 15th: a good placing to start the races, but unfortunately I made two bad starts on Sunday. The comeback went quite well but I am not very happy with my placing. In the second one I started from the back and risked getting caught up in the crash at the first corner. I escaped the danger and started to make up positions and finished in 12th place. I am happy how I rode but I have to work on my starts.”
Tom Koch: “Once again we had to deal with a wet weekend. In practice I felt good, even though in the time trials I did not get a good time. I was not too far behind those in front of me, but I was confident that I could improve. On the second lap I made a mistake and from that point on, I could no longer keep a good pace. On Sunday there were deep canals, it was very easy to make mistakes. My starts were not good and in every race I crashed, the track was quite tricky due to the rain. Now we have a free weekend, which we will make the most of to train on the sand and be ready for the next race”.
